What to do
Bury or Brace Aerial Fireworks
Always bury or brace aerial fireworks unless the product label specifically instructs otherwise.
Bury aerial fireworks to half their length in a pail filled with earth or sand, or brace them securely with heavy objects on both sides.
Do not ignite cakes or other freestanding aerial items without securing them when the label requires support; tipping can send effects sideways.
Be a Good Neighbour
Notify neighbours before your display so people with pets, young children, shift work or noise sensitivities can prepare.
Clean up all fireworks debris, including anything that lands outside your property.
Store & Transport Fireworks Safely
Store fireworks in a cool, dry place and out of the reach of children.
When transporting fireworks, keep them out of direct sunlight. Use your trunk or a sturdy cardboard box in the passenger compartment.
Never smoke while loading, transporting or unloading fireworks.
Age 18+ or Direct Adult Supervision
Type F.1 fireworks are for sale to persons 18 years of age or older in Canada.

Ignite Fireworks Safely

Light at arm’s length, then stand clear.
Consider an igniter stick or approved remote firing system where appropriate.

Keep water nearby in case spent fireworks smoulder or catch fire.

Use Caution with a Dud Firework
Wait at least 30 minutes before approaching a firework that did not go off.
Never try to relight or repair a defective firework.
